WordWeb is Not Completely Free!!!

Just aware of this after reading the post from Shuva few days ago about. The best free dictionary - WordWeb is not completely free. This is their free licensing agreement:

You may use the program free of charge indefinitely only if

  • You take at most 4 flights (2 return flights) in any 12 month period
  • AND you do not own or regularly drive an SUV (sports utility vehicle).
If you do not qualify you must uninstall the program after the 30-day trial period or purchase WordWeb Pro.

The full license is here. This is the most funniest licensing term that I have ever heard. I just told my friend today, he is shock too! Anyway, thanks for Shuva for bringing the awareness to us. But, the question still will you uninstall it if you don't meet the term?

I'm quite sure most of the Asia people, they will not follow the term. I"m not sure about the Western (e.g. US, Europe) culture. Looks like they really follow? I don't know.

I replied to your question about following the terms in my blog and let me try putting it here again for your blog's reader.

The point is about spreading awareness. Let me try to give an analogy. Parents tell their children that its bad to lie and break promises. Children know that even if they dont follow these, their parents are never going to catch them.

As far as WordWeb is concerned, they were anyway giving it for Free, so attaching a license like this only creates awareness and cause people like you and me to talk about it. Thats is a noble cause. The WordWeb Pro which is not free has features which can be difficult to resist when you get addicted to WordWeb for some years.

It pissed me off when wordweb blocked their free version.

To unblock the freeversion of wordweb, just remove the registry entry and re-install again.

Or modify the registry value at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WordWeb\3
Parameter: Base
Binary Value: D5 BF EA 13 73 5D E3 40

Free version shub be able to use as normal after then.

They did block the free version? I see... Perhaps you're using the latest downloaded version as my old version of WordWeb still working fine as usual.

Btw, I just visited their website and it seems like they do still provide the free version which means you don't really need to hack the registry.

Deny anyone who uses too much carbon. Never mind the fact that MMGW is a freedom stealing fraud. When the Question came up I just randomly picked the largest carbon footprint answer when in fact I only fly one day a year one way. Al Gore must be on Word Web's board. Only a Libtard would think of doing this.

I had never thought of this could be related to the carbon emission stuff and Al Core could be behind all these?!

You have enlighten me! Thanks! :)

Deleting the registry entry works :)

Not in this case. How many you travels and whether you drive an SUV are not stored in the registry. :)
